This head has been treated with acid to achieve its specific texture.

The choice for this finishing method is motivated by the parallels between the violence inflicted by nature on outdoor sculpture and by people onto one another.

The surface of acid-damaged stone strikingly resembles human skin that has suffered acid burns.

In reaction to ISIS' destruction of museum artifacts, this sculpture has been "carved" by firing 64 bullets of various calibers at the raw marble block.

The classical sculpting tools of hammer and chisels were replaced by firearms and bullets.

The adoption of ISIS' destructive methods to a creative proces confers artistic value to iconoclastic practices and is a response and an attempto to counteract and negate their annihilating purposes.
